A Free Personals Site Using Wordpress

Personals Dot Com is unique: no other free dating site uses wordpress as the content management system. I had the idea only a few days ago. I was looking at different scripts to use as the platform for a free personals site. I’d looked at classified scripts, ready-made dating scripts, even vbulletin. A few mornings ago, I was sat writing on my blog, sipping some strong coffee, and the idea jumped into my barely awake head: why don’t you use wordpress for your dating site?

The idea borne, I grabbed my trusty notepad and pen and sketched how I envisioned the site. Now the object, as I saw it, was to create a fully working free personals site that relied entirely on wordpress for its platform. I spent hours pouring over wordpress hacks and plugins and by lunchtime knew what I had in mind would indeed be possible.

And, here we are - the first day of what I hope will be a long and happy life for Personals Dot Com.

Personals Dot Com is not intended to replace or even compete with huge dating sites. I’d like to think we could be used in conjunction with them. The idea is to give you a free personals site that will give your personal ads a terrific level of exposure.

When you create a personals ad on any other site, your ad is hidden among thousands of other similar ads. Sure, people can find you but, let’s face it, you’re competing with masses of other people. Now with Personals Dot Com we’ll only be posting a few ads each day - after all, we have to review each one ourselves. This way your ad will appear on the high traffic main page and then be easily found as people browse back through the pages.

With any luck when Personals Dot Com is more popular, your ads might be getting thousands of responses each day. And the good thing is I never - EVER - intend to charge for this service … ever.

So, I’m excited about this. I have what I believe is a cool dating site that people will want to use as well as the bigger sites, since we offer a different free service (more exposure for your ads), and I’m looking forward to seeing how wordpress as a dating cms pans out. As wordpress and the plugins develop we should see exciting changes on Personals Dot Com.
